Thank you, Bob, for such a great question. You’re not going to like this: yes and no! What?! Let’s break this down piece by piece. First, what is cancer? Cancer is the name for 100+ diseases which have one thing in common: abnormal cell growth and activity caused by free radicals. Free radicals (abbr. R●) are not only made by the body, but also come from smog, alcohol, sunlight, smoke, charred food, etc. These mean little unstable molecules wreak havoc on your body. A R● attacks another molecule to make itself stable making its victim a R●, which then does the same to another molecule. It’s like a domino rally. Put this rally into a cell and the cell freaks out!
R●s are also made by oxidants (one molecule that oxidizes another). Oxidation is a reaction between oxygen and its surroundings: oxidized apples are brown and oxidized steel is rusty! Oxidants cause similar damage in the body: cancer and other diseases.
