    I was at Hollywood Video one Friday night, a frequent occurrence to wrap up the end of the week with pizza and a movie family night.     After I found my movie treasures, I walked up to the checkout and ended up right behind her and her two cuties. She turned to me and in frustration said, "I hate bringing them here. I make my rounds, choose my movie and am done.     This is a book dedication of sorts (The Five Love Languages – by Gary Chapman), and an exhortation to two very-close friends to rise up and defeat Satan in his attack against their marriage.

    I think the two biggest demonic destroyers I have seen with my own eyes in marriages, are “Selfishness” and “Control”. They both are in direct opposition with the very nature of Christ and are designed to do just one thing, and that is to take you and your marriage straight to Hell.

    The first, “Selfishness”, is a very familiar voice. It says, “What about me?” “What about my wants, my needs, my goals, my dreams, my vision for this relationship and our lives?” “It’s my life too; I can do what I want.” “I’m not going to spend my free time that way.” “I am NOT going to live like that.” “I am not going to allow that behavior (by the other) to plant a seed in my marriage.”

    We can dress it up in fancy clothes, we can put a bow on its head, and we can even spend a lot of time in prayer and say it’s the revealed will of God. But what is it really all about? It’s all about ME! My life, my will, my hopes, my aspirations, my destiny, my insecurities, my fears, my self-centeredness, my struggle, my defeat in Christ likeness. While my heart truly asks, “What about me?” Christ’s heart truly cried, “I do this all for YOU!”, as they pounded spikes into His hands and feet, then stabbed Him in His side. ...
