Keep God First

Mark 1: 35 NIV Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.

Is God first in your day? I’ve got a confession to make. I woke early but went right to the kitchen to bake homemade sweet breads. My day starts with quiet time with the Lord in His Word and prayer but not this day. I missed that time to hear God in the morning.

It was after midnight when I finally took time for prayer and Bible reading. What was I thinking? I thought I wouldn’t have time to make the breads if I didn’t get to them first thing in the morning. My dilemma late that night was that I kept busy all day with good things but missed the Lord’s best.

God’s Word is food for our soul and spirit which is needed more than earthly breads. I thought, If Jesus rose early to pray, so should we. While reading this story of Jesus in Mark 1, I noticed that Simon told Jesus, “Everyone was looking for you.” But Jesus replied, We must go on to other towns… Could it be Father told Jesus in that prayer,It's time to move on? I believe so. It’s key for us to keep God first each day and receive His guidance. Join me in prayer.

Prayer: God help me keep You first in my day. Lord Jesus help me follow Your pattern to go to a solitary place to pray in the early morning while it is yet dark. Amen.
