Psalm 16: 11 NIV You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.

No alarm this particular January morning, but awakened by the voice of the Lord asking, “Would you like to get up with Me?” Yes Lord, I’d be glad to, I said.

It was still dark as I walked through the house but there was a reflection from night lights outside the windows so I was able to walk without stumbling. To my surprise, outside the living room window, there was snow in the front yard amidst dark trees and bushes. When I looked to the sky, a full moon was still shining down brightly. I stopped to take in the beauty of this picture. Sitting before the Lord with the lights out, I basked in His presence to enjoy His beautiful world. I thought, it is a new year with new beginnings.

The Lord woke me to simply enjoy His presence and beautiful artistry rather than me coming aside for business as usual, turning on lights to read my Bible, pray and journal. These are all good things and needful but what a precious invitation from the Lord to start this day with joy in His presence.

Expect new beginnings with the Lord this new year and enjoy Him.
