A Spiritual Hot Spot In Nashville

"What do you think of God,” the teacher asked. After a pause, the young pupil replied, ‘He’s not a think, he’s a feel.’” ~Paul Frost

A God you can powerfully feel will fill your faith with holy fire and excitement and transform your life.

But where can you strongly feel God? Does God feel powerfully present in most church services? Is His presence so real that it makes you tremble, tremble tremble? Do you feel a touch of the Holy Spirit that moves you deeply? Are you stirred to a mighty sense of awe? Is your heart set on fire? Do tears of amazement flow?

It is important that we feel God. Intellectual teaching and analysis about God is not powerful enough to carry us triumphantly through the week. We need God’s gusto gushing through our gut — the rivers of living water that Jesus promised us.

There is a place in Nashville where you can mightily feel God -- a spiritual hot spot. It is a humble place in East Nashville were a group of people gather, not to have a church service, but to let God work — to allow the Holy Spirit to freely direct, guide, and move them.

What happens there each Sunday morning is beyond my ability to describe. Hearts are opened. Spiritually blind eyes see. Depression and oppression are broken. Lives are changed in front of your eyes. And a room full of folks feel God.

It's really amazing. It is something really exciting to experience.
He has given you authority and He expects you to take care ofwhat He created, (Psalm 115:16). Hisplan is for you to tend and take care of the earth, truly watching over it,being a good steward of all that He created, and representing ALL of who He is to the World. There are many facets to taking care of God’screation, here are a few for yourconsideration: 1) Your body, the templeof the Holy Ghost, are you taking care of the temple He has given to you? 2) The earth, are you taking care of what Hehas given to you? You can’t necessarily take care of all the earth, but you cantake care of the piece He has placed in your possession. When people look atyour home and your community, what do they see? Do they see the influence ofthe Father and His Word? 3) Yourrelationship with others, are you careful to demonstrate the character of God (theFruit of the Spirit – Galatians 5:22-23) to all who are in your life: yourfamily, your neighbors, your co-workers, and yes the casual acquaintance(s) youmeet at the store, the gas station, or on the street? 4) Your leadership role in your family, inyour community, in your occupation, in your church: are you leading by example, demonstrating Christ centered principles in your leadership and inspiring othersto follow after God’s plan for their lives. Jesus won the victory for you andme, (I John 5:4-5) and the Father expects us to appropriate that victory in ourlives so that others can see who the Father is and what He wants to do in theirlives (Luke 10:19, Matthew 28:18-20, John 3:17).

Colossians 3: 2 ESV Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.

I was thinking about my husband and me watching television in the evening and some mornings. We enjoy reality shows and keeping up with local and world news. Many times I wonder and ask as I did this morning, “Lord is this alright with you? I heard clearly, “Set your mind on things above, not on earth.”

What flashes through my mind as I write is listening to an old teaching tape by Joy Dawson, an International Bible teacher and author. She said when we watch the world news it should be like a prayer list. That is to see current affairs from above and take them to the Lord in prayer. We are to know God and like a good soldier also know our enemy. Perhaps it is not that we as Christians are not to watch television but that when we do, we are to keep heaven’s perspective.

This issue of watching television tugs at my heart. I will seek the Lord for full understanding on His Word to me, to set my mind on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.

Prayer: Lord, Thank You for Your Word to me. Thank You that You will reveal to me by Your Spirit Lord how to set my mind on things above. Amen.

God Doesn’t Lie – He Wants to Bless You!

Either you believe the Word of God or you don’t. It is a choice! You either believe God’s Word or you lean to your own understanding. In Numbers 23:19 it says “God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do it? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good? In Isaiah 55:8-9, it says, “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. 9 “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts”. From these scriptures we realize that God does not think like you and me. He sees much bigger and broader, He thinks before He speaks and says only what He means, He practices 1 Corinthians 13 and moves in love in every decision He makes for the world and for you and me. Therefore, we must realize that when He says in Galatians 6:7, “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap”. He is warning us because He loves us and does not want us to experience bad things in our lives, He is not trying to scare us. He wants us to be blessed! When He tells us in Deuteronomy 28 the blessings and cursings we receive, when we obey or disobey His Word, it is not to scare us, but to ensure we put ourselves in the way of His blessing. He always puts the decision to be blessed or not to be blessed in our hands, as it says in Deuteronomy 30:19. “I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live”. He is asking you to trust Him and not to lean to your own understanding or experience so that you can be blessed.

ACTION: Spend time in God’s Word daily, act on what He says and be blessed.

Live Your Life Pleasing to God!

As a Believer, what does it mean to live your life pleasing to God? It is very simple, Jesus said in John 15:8 “By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples”. Bearing much fruit has two different aspects, but both are very closely tied or linked to one another; 1) demonstrating the fruit of the spirit in your life to the world and 2) making disciples by teaching others what God has taught you according to His Word. They are both integrally related and intertwined. When you walk in this world demonstrating the fruit of the spirit (Galatians 5:22-23), you are letting the world know that you are different, that you have chosen to follow a different philosophy or leader. That difference is what causes them to ask “why are you different”? When they ask the question, the door then opens for you to share the hope that is in you, the gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (I Peter 3:15). And then the gospel will do its work in their hearts – opening their eyes and saving their souls (James 1:21). Once they receive the Truth and make a commitment to follow Jesus, then you are ready to help them grow and teach them how to be a follower of Christ, (Matthew 28:18-20). That is how you bear fruit and please God with your life.

QUESTION: Are you demonstrating the Fruit of the Spirit to your family, friends, co-workers and world? (Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness and SELF CONTROL – Galatians 5:22-23)

ACTION: DEMONSTRATE THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT TO EVERYONE, SHARE THE GOSPEL AS THE DOOR OPENS and TEACH OTHERS HOW TO FOLLOW CHRIST ACCORDING TO HIS WORD.

Overcomers Count It ALL Joy and Give Thanks in Everything!

Overcomers approach life from a different lens or view than those who are not walking in victory. Overcomers tend to have a positive and thankful attitude, they count it all joy and walk being thankful, no matter what their circumstance, (James 1:2-3 and I Thessalonians 5:18). Generally they have a positive attitude because they believe what the Word says in Psalm 103:19, “The Lord has established His throne in the heavens, and His kingdom rules over all”. They trust that God is in control of their lives, and that His love and plan for them will prevail, when they submit themselves and the situation unto Him (Psalm 25:9). They believe that He will take what happens in their life (through their own doing or through choices of others) and turn it into something beautiful. They believe this because what the Word says in Romans 8:28, “And we know that He causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose”. You are an Overcomer! Count it all joy and Give Thanks in Everything!
ACTION: Do not complain! Submit yourself and your situation to God. Give thanks that He is God and that He is able to turn the situation around and then watch your circumstances change.
